Winners and losers in the first four NCAA games


It is that time of the year when each and every college basketball fanatic has his NCAA March Madness bracket filled and hoping his or her team gets lucky this year and cuts the nets. It is only one day in the64 team tournament and some teams have already said goodbye to the tournament. On Wednesday four games were played in the first four rounds.

Here are some of the losers and the winners of the first day of the tournament.

North Dakota State beat North Carolina Central by four points in a thrilling game. North Dakota State led by their junior guard Tyson Ward, who scored 23 as the game finished 78-74 and therefore booking a date with the Duke Blue devils which is led by the star freshman Zion Williamson. North Carolina central bench was off during the game and hence little contribution.

St John was one of the biggest losers in the first four NCAA games, St John has experienced NCAA tournament drought since 2000. The team is known to be one of the best college programs in the 1990s with the team winning a number of tournaments including the Elite eight in 1991 and 1999. Since 2000, the team has not been able to qualify to the NCAA tournament. Arizona State’s defense was spectacular as it contained St Johns to31.9 percent shooting throughout the game. This ensured that Arizona win the game 74-65 and it booked a date with the buffalo bulls on Friday.

In the other two matches played on Wednesday prairie view was upset by Fairleigh Dickinson University losing 76-82, Belmont beat temple 81-70 in a hotly contested game.
